WEAPONIZED EMPATHY

I awakened recently with this heavy on me. Having recently entered a group and observed some very troubling posts by women of color who were weaponizing empathy as a marketing device.
We are living in a time where the loudest voices become the unintended “Voice of” a specific people, group or sub culture.
This is so easy to occur due to a combination of viral social media posts and a political apparatus that has learned to manipulate the narrative in favor of the propaganda they promote.
A narrative of Oppression and Fear.
Division and conflict.
I will not remain silent and allow SOME melanated people to represent ALL.
These women don’t speak for me.
Let’s talk about race.
There are those who take this current racial environment and attempt to capitalize on it…creating full businesses based on guilt and promoting this idea that pink people should hire and work with brown people to PROVE that they aren’t racist and support racial equity.
Don’t be fooled.
Anyone that is projecting their racial identity as a tool to force a specific behavior, action or world view is part of the problem not the solution.
Displaying racism to end racism is racism.
In fact focusing on race as a defining characteristic is part of the issue.
My husband worked in DEI (Diversity equity and inclusion) nearly 3 decades. Sociology is His field of education and companies hired Him BECAUSE of His expertise in this field.
Yet after decades He walked away from it ENTIRELY.
Because it doesn’t work.
And it creates a false dichotomy.
A narrative that pink people owe brown people something
That men owe women something
That there are those in the world who are OWED and because of the color, sex, sexual orientation, etc they should be especially catered to.
That these identities are THE most important thing to look at.
Here’s the issue when it comes to MOST of the ways that people address race…
It furthers the belief that brown people are by definition inferior and pink people hold all the power.
It’s not true.
I have attended SO MANY spaces where I am one of the only brown people in attendance.
In these spaces there is a desire to make me feel welcome…everyone wants to Amplify my voice.
It would be the easiest thing in the world to use that for my own gain. To tell a tale of Oppression that oddly places guilt on pink people for being superior while wanting them to also use their superiority to benefit me.
This is a sort of racial Sadism and Masochism of the highest order.
What I REALLY have to say is hard to hear.
BLACKNESS /BROWNESS isn’t special.
Melanin is the default in nature.
My voice doesn’t deserve to be “amplified” because I’m brown.
If you’re going to Amplify it – do it because I’m saying something worth while.
You don’t need to work with me because I’m brown
Do it because I’m the best at what I do and you feel SERVED by my teachings and other offerings.
The business you patronize should be because you LOVE how they SERVE you.
Not to heal racial guilt.
Read that again and then let’s kill the Sacred Cow …
WHITENESS IS NOT SOMETHING TO BE ASHAMED OF.
If I can offer my pink brethren a balm let it be that you be judged by the content of your character not the color of your skin.
And that your release YOURSELF from the guilt.
EVERYONE’S ancestors did wrong and yet we all get to live based on OUR actions and not theirs.
“In those days they shall say no more: the fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge.” Jeremiah 31:29
“The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.” Ezekiel 18:20
YOU ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SINS OF THE FATHER
This also means that…Brown brethren
• You don’t get to claim Oppression because your ancestors were oppressed
• You don’t get to claim some sort of default righteousness because your ancestors were righteous
• You aren’t owed anything.
You want anti discrimination legislation?
You want an apology for slavery?
Now let’s address what you really want brown brethren. You REALLY want a world where people can’t express that they don’t like you, don’t prefer you and can’t treat you in ways that are painful.
And that doesn’t exist.
It can’t be legislated.
And no one can FORCE that in a world of FREE WILL.
What can be created are laws that don’t support certain behaviors…yet the change you are REALLY seeking takes place in the HEART.
John Kennedy said :
“It ought to be possible, in short, for every American to enjoy the privileges of being American without regard to his race or his color. In short, every American ought to have the right to be treated as he would wish to be treated, as one would wish his children to be treated. But this is not the case….
…This is not a sectional issue…Nor is this a partisan issue…This is not even a legal or legislative issue alone. It is better to settle these matters in the courts than on the streets, and new laws are needed at every level, but law alone cannot make men see right.
We are confronted primarily with a moral issue. It is as old as the scriptures and is as clear as the American Constitution.”
In other words you can not COMPEL Love.
You can only invite it.
We chose to invite it by LOVING ALL
By creating environments where EVERYONE can come together…not in a forced homogeneity but in the complexity of Divine individuation.
In fact it is one of the things we are MOST proud of. Not how much money our company makes but that we attract people who are ALL ages, races, nations, and faiths. That they can ALL come together and feel served.
The Change you want is within YOU Beloved.
Love.
Over Everything.
